In the fast-paced world that we live in today it can be hard to stand out from the thousands of messages that are being pushed, on a daily basis, to your audience. Cute Animals – Who doesn’t love cute, cuddly, furry animals? Using an adorable bunny or puppy in your advertising, marketing or social media posts can grab people’s attention. It is also great because people love to talk about, like and share cute animals which makes your message go even farther. Don’t be afraid to use cuteness. I mean who can say no to such a charming little fellow?
Babies – Babies, like cute animals, have a draw to them because they disarm us and make your message soothing and calm. When you see a baby doing something amazing or adorable it makes everyone go “awe”. In today’s world, you can make babies dance, sing, or fly to the moon. If you really want to blow you audience out of the water, you might even combine cute animals and babies. But be careful though, too much cuteness may put your audience’s health at risk!
Shock Factor – You need to be careful with this one because you don’t want to alienate anyone in your key demographics but shocking people can make your product or brand memorable. Using hot-topics or scary numbers and facts, that back up your stance, can make you stand out from the rest of the market. Just make sure that you don’t offend because the last thing your company wants is a bunch of people boycotting you…
Newsjacking – Newsjacking is when you use a news story that is currently in the media and piggy-back off of it. One great example was in 2013 when the lights at the Super Bowl mysteriously went out causing a lengthy blackout. Tide took advantage of the opportunity by tweeting out, “We can’t get your #blackout, but we can get your stains out.” Look for different opportunities in the news and be creative! It is sure to payoff.
